This week has been a week of reflection. Spending couple of minutes on the train to and from work allows me to indulge in some reading, namely the Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell or how someone puts it as pseudo-psychology. Parts of the book does hold some truths which could very well speak to my situation.

Going to work on Monday with the crazy wet weather right now totally got me partially drenched by the time I reached my workplace, where my shoes got really soaked and I didn't bring an extra pair. Being the impulsive person, I grabbed my umbrella and headed out to buy a new pair. On the way, I saw a monk walking barefooted and I wondered "here I am buying shoes with the only reason that my shoes were wet and yes perhaps its temporal discomfort, but here was a monk barefooted walking the wet rough ground for perhaps weeks?"; for a moment I felt rather ashamed. The only shoe shop that I knew in the vicinity was not opened. I asked the elderly lady of the shop next to it and she actually offered me her slippers, seeing the state of my shoes. Well thankfully, I managed to grab not just one, but two pairs of shoes at a decent price at a shop nearby; possibly the most comfy pairs of shoes since it's made of rubber. The lady at the shop allowed me to change out of my wet shoes and socks and gave me a plastic bag for it. Well, I guess the kindness of people still do exist in this uncaring society, which is worth preserving.

Dinner on Tuesday with a good friend proved worthwhile, tried ox tongue (gyutan), oden and tororo which somehow got me addicted. Now I could understand why my japanese colleague could actually have gobo, natto and rice everyday for breakfast.

I think I've achieved another milestone at work to handle something which I've always dreaded, I believe with more practice I should get better at it minus any accidents from occurring.
